Legislative and media attacks on transgender medical autonomy highlight the need for anatomists and clinicians to become well-versed in gender diversity and its expression in non-binary anatomy. However, transgender and intersex bodies are largely unrepresented in anatomy textbooks, atlases, and curricula. This session will provide a basis for understanding sexual mosaicism through the lens of developmental biology. We will build upon this foundation by discussing the experiences of sex- or gender-diverse individuals in navigating healthcare and the systemic barriers that hinder accessible medical provision in view of increasingly hostile public policies. Finally, this session will explore strategies for educators to foster inclusivity in the classroom and advocate for the incorporation of sexual diversity within educational curricula.
