My name is Wahab Tariq, an MS3 at Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine, from Houston TX. I am super excited about the Anatomy Connected 2024 conference this year, as this is a phenomenal opportunity to learn from great minds from all over. Anatomy has been my favorite subject in medical school, and presenting one of my favorite anatomical research at this conference is super exciting. Our Research focuses on the anatomical variation in the human kidney and the importance of having a standard protocol for surgical transplants when harvesting donor kidneys. Our focus is to have accurate and reliable data on renal vascular and reduce the number of complications related to kidney transplants. We looked at the different branching patterns of the renal arteries and took measures from different angles to establish a standardized surgical protocol to be able to harvest the kidney more effectively and potentially lead to a lesser transplant failure rate. Our research on renal vasculature is still in its early phases and upon further research, studies like these are a emerging field in the anatomical research field. With the help of more cadaveric donor and further research, our research potentially aims to significantly reduce the complication associated with renal transplantation.
