Christelle Azolin is a 4th year medical student at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (FIU HWCOM). She will be attending the University of Miami/Jackson Health System Obstetrics and Gynecology program in the summer of 2024. Ms. Azolin attended the University of South Florida and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in May of 2020. She is one of the cofounders of the FIU HWCOM Innovative Anatomy Lab that creates and utilizes 3D printing of anatomical and pathological models to provide a better learning environment. She was the Co-President of White Coats for Black Lives where she helped facilitate an inclusive environment at FIU HWCOM focusing on racial and social barriers to healthcare. Ms. Azolin was the Student National Medical Association Community Service Chair and during her time, she facilitated the renewal of the Barbershop Hypertension Program within Covid-19 safety guidelines that allowed students to conduct blood pressure screenings in local community barbershops and inform the population of the importance of heart health. Ms. Azolin led the creation of the Spanish and Creole Pocket booklet to help decrease language barriers between physicians, student doctors and patients. Ms. Azolin was also inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for her commitment to service, clinical care, and ethical leadership. Ms. Azolin plans to continue her commitment to working with underserved communities by bridging language barriers and ensuring that all individuals receive the care and support they deserve as an Ob/Gyn physician.
