Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine
Elizabeth Matthews is a second year osteopathic medical student at Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Her current research involves designing an online educational module to present laryngeal anatomy to first year medical students that will improve their understanding and retention of the information. This involves using the familiar action of swallowing to teach the unfamiliar complexity of laryngeal structure. The novel module was presented to students at SHSU-COM during their first semester of medical school. She has multiple publications in the field of undergraduate medical student education and hopes that her research can improve the presentation of information presented to future medical students. Following graduation, Elizabeth intends to complete a residency in Emergency Medicine.
