Dr. Kristjan Thompson: Originally from North Carolina. Received her BS in Exercise/Sports Science from Elon University in 2003, and a PhD in Anatomy and Cell Biology from East Carolina University in 2009. She holds certificates from the AAMC and AMEE in Leadership in Medical Education. Dr. Thompson has been a Medical Educator focusing on Gross Anatomy instruction for 15 years, since 2009. She has taught both abroad, Ross University School of Medicine, and in the USA, Mercer University School of Medicine. She is currently ranked at the Associate Professor level and participates in a plethora of service locally and nationally. Her research interests are mainly focused on medical education, especially as it relates to Gross Anatomy, and has recently forayed into the GME realm and looking at gamification and residency training. AI usage in medical school is also a current research venue. She has been a member of AAA since 2010 and has served on the Membership/Ambassador Committee, as well as chairing that committee. Additional AAA service includes micro volunteering activities and reviewing for the ASE journal. She is also a certified Yoga Instructor and also provides her expertise to various yoga teacher training programs in the southeast US in regards to yoga associated anatomy knowledge.
