Master's of Biomedical Innovation (MBI) Student
McMaster University, Canada
I am a current Master of Biomedical Innovation (MBI) program student at McMaster Unviersity that is focused on making an impact in the healthcare space. I have been involved in numerous other projects, including the creation of a Class II medical device to support physicians and anaesthetists in endotracheal intubation by reducing the incidence of adverse events. I did my undergraduate BHsc with Honours in McMaster University's Integrated Biomedical Engineering and Health Sciences (iBioMed) program in the Health, Engineering Sciences, and Entrepreneurship (HESE) stream, where I was privileged with the opportunities to work with numerous prominent individuals in the healthcare space, including neurosurgeons and intensivists at hospitals in both Hamilton and Burlington. Currently, I am working algside my business partners to develop our endotracheal device alongside intensivists and surgeons in various hospitals including St. Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington and Hamilton General Hospital in Hamilton to create a device that will transform the way intubations are performed in hospitals across the country. I also have experience as a healthcare consultant, working with prominent companies such as Deloitte in order to provide Electronic Medical Record (EMR) support to healthcare providers, particularly with EPIC software being implemented across Ontario. I am also involved in collaborations between McMaster University's Anatomy and Mechanical Engineering departments to investigate mechanical properties of tissues to improve the ways surgical skills are taught to medical students and residents. I am committed to a lifetime of improving the state of healthcare in Canada, and eventually across the globe.
