Jared J. Hill is a 1st year medical student at the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa. Before medical school, Jared studied mechanical engineering and was drawn to surgery after a unique engineering internship in the field of spinal fusion. This experience led him to finish his bachelors degree in engineering and proceed to recieve a masters degree in clinical anatomy at the Carver College of Medicine. Throughout undergraduate and graduate studies, Jared published research in the field of orthopedic biomechanics and surgical simulation for orthopedic residency education. Jared's current research in medical school primarily focuses on genomic mutations in antibiotic resistant staphylococcus aureus for children with cystic fibrosis, as well as cytockeletal rearrangements in eukaryotic kidney cells and their role in epithelial polarity development. Jared aspires to continue his research in surgical education and cellular development as a resident in orthopedic surgery.
