Professor
Touro University California
Vallejo, California, United States
I am currently Professor in the Department of Foundational Biomedical Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine, Touro University California. I am also an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Duke University School of Medicine and a Research Associate in the Department of Anthropology, Institute for Biodiversity Science and Sustainability, California Academy of Sciences. My research focuses on biomechanics and the evolution of craniofacial form in primates. I use comparative and experimental approaches to model muscle and bone biomechanics, to test biomechanical and evolutionary hypotheses of feeding-system morphology, and to gain insights into the factors that led to species divergence in primates. My research is currently testing functional and evolutionary hypotheses about fiber type phenotypes in primate chewing muscles. I currently serve as the AAA member on the FASEB Board of Directors and as Joint Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Human Evolution.
