Abstract Body : The goal of this case report is to provide health professional students with an understanding of the historical context and significance of performing a tubectomy, with a focus on tubal ligation. Through an analysis by the National Survey of Family Growth, sterilization was the most common method of contraception from 2006 to 2010, utilized by 47.3% of married couples. Tubal ligation accounted for 30.2% while vasectomy accounts for the other 17.1%. By examining a recent case where a tubal ligation with mechanical staples was discovered in a donor, we delve into the nuances of this method and its significance in modern healthcare. Out of 21 donors, ten were female donors. Three donors had a uterus present in the pelvic cavity while only one had evidence of tubal ligation on the right side. The remaining donors did not have uterus because of prior hysterectomies performed on them. Although this is a relatively common procedure, students and health professionals have had difficulty in the past identifying this procedure in cadavers. We explored the various techniques employed over the years, leading up to the contemporary use of mechanical staples, a method noted for its effectiveness and safety. Our analysis includes a comprehensive review of the surgical procedure, its physiological implications, and the ethical considerations that have surrounded its practice. This study provides health professional students with context to understand the complexities and advancements in female sterilization techniques. It prepares them for informed and sensitive practice, demonstrating the importance of tubal ligation through its historic context, anatomical significance and clinical implications. Our study aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the different methods, efficacy, and considerations for female sterilization through this paper and an educational module.
