Postdoctoral Fellow
Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
Dr. Durham joined the Bhoj Lab at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia 2022 from the Richtsmeier Lab at Pennsylvania State University where she used her knowledge of craniofacial biology and histological identification of cellular types and processes to investigate the chondrocranium as it develops in embryonic mice. Dr. Durham received her PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2019, where her research focused on the impact of pharmacological teratogens on stem cells resident to the craniofacial skeleton. Prior to receiving her PhD, Dr. Durham received a BA in Biology from Washington and Jefferson College and a MA in Healthcare Ethics from Duquesne University where she concentrated on ethics in biomedical research. With this unique set of skills, Dr. Durham joined the team at The TBCK Foundation in 2023 as the Research Engagement Director. Acting as a bridge between patient/family needs and research initiatives has allowed Dr. Durham to employ skills learned at AAA SciCom BootCamp and stay at the cutting edge of research in rare pediatric neurodegenerative conditions with craniofacial components. Dr. Durham continues to use histological investigations of cellular processes as well as morphometric analyses to investigate bone development in the skull in models of pediatric neurodegeneration.
