Dr. Holly Ressetar has held research positions in the Laboratory of Experimental Neuropathology at the National Institutes of Health as well as in the Laboratory of Retrovirology at Johns Hopkins University. Her research experience has been primarily in the fields of neurodevelopment and neurovirology, working with human and simian HIV and polyoma viruses and studying demyelinating diseases, neonatal brain tumor formation and the blood brain barrier. Dr. Ressetar joined the teaching faculty in the WVU Department of Neurobiology and Anatomy in 2000 which is now a division of the department pf Pathology, Anatomy and laboratory Medicine. She is director of the Medical Human Structure course, Pharmacy Anatomy and Dental Hygiene Oral Histology and has taught in Medical Problem-based Learning, Medical Neurobiology, Dental Histology, Graduate Histology and Nursing Anatomy. Dr. Ressetar has been active in developing computer resources for teaching, including development of a virtual histology website and on-line anatomy course for undergraduates. She has published peer-reviewed scientific research articles, textbooks and text chapters as well as computer instructional units.
